Q: How do I register my Oldsmobile W-Machine?

A: To add your W-Machine(s) to the registry please click on the ‘Registry’ link at the top of the page. This will direct you to the registry database. On the right side of the page you will see a link under the Registry Menu that says ‘Register W-Machine.’ Click that and enter all the data for your vehicle. Please try to fill out each field as accurate as you can! You will see a field to create a unique user name and password for your account should you ever need to make adjustments or update your entry. This login will also allow you to view all entries in the database and email other owners of a particular W-Machine. The database will organize all entries by Year, VIN, Body Style, and Factory Exterior Color.

Q: What if I don’t want to enter my Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)?

A: We ask that you put ‘xxx’ for the last three digits of your VIN number.
For example if your VIN is 336870M123456 you would enter 336870M123xxx.

This allows us to still get an idea on production data but still keep your information private.

Q: How do I view another W-Machine in the database?

A: Once you are logged in you may click on the Registry tab and then click on any car to view their profile. Certain information may not be accessible.

Q: Does General Motors or Oldsmobile have official records (Windows Stickers, etc) of W-Machine production totals?

A: No, unfortunately specific detailed records were lost in a supposed vault fire during the 1970’s. For general information on your car, please visit the R.E. Olds Museum at www.reoldsmuseum.org. Information on all Oldsmobiles imported and sold in Canada can be obtained through GM of Canada, Vintage Vehicle Services. Contact information for them is 1-888-467-6853, or outside of Canada 905-440-7636 and 905-440-7618.

Q: Is there a specific club dedicated to Oldsmobile I can join?

A: Yes, please visit the Oldsmobile Club of America at www.oldsclub.com. There you will find information about national meets, local chapters, and their month publication Journey With Olds. If you are outside the United States please check out the Links Page to find other organization throughout the world.

Q: I have a specific restoration project I would like to submit to the site and share with others. What should I do?

A few examples would be how to recover a bucket seat, how to dye a dash pad, how to replicate firewall markings, how to restore a clock, etc. If you have a great project and would like to share it, please type a word document with pictures and submit it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Dr. Oldsmobile’s Twitter account will be updated nearly everyday or as time permits.

Q: My car is a clone/replica/tribute car. Should I add it to the registry?

A: NO! Please do not add a vehicle that is a known clone/replica/tribute car!

Q: Can I change the password that is sent to me to something different?
Q: Can I change an option or edit the information on my car?

Q: Can I change my email address?

A: Yes, you can change all your information! Follow these steps…

Login with your user name and password (you should have received an email with this information) - Once you have logged in click on the ‘Registry’ link and then make your selection from the Registry Menu on the right side of the page - This will open your profile page. From here you click Edit/Update Your Profile. - You will see three different tabs (Portrait, Contact Info, Vehicle) and can click on any of them to update your password, vehicle information, or add a profile image of your choice!

Q: How do I email a fellow W-Machine owner to discuss their particular car with them or ask them a question?

A: Only users with a login and password can contact other owners. Registered users simply click on the ‘Registry’ tab at the main page and then on whatever vehicle they wish to view. Certain field may be blocked or set to private. If you do not own a W-Machine, but would like to contact an owner please email the site This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will provide the owner with your email address so they may contact you.

Q: How do I add multiple W-Machines to the registry if I own more than one?

A: In order to add multiple cars you will need to create a different user name and use a different email address than the ones you used on your original account. If you only have one email address, please email the site and we will help you with a forwarding account.
